DESCRIPTION:Managing the Negotiation Within – Both Our Clients’ and Our
  Own\nPresented by David Hoffman\, JD\nMr. Hoffman is bringing the popular
  PFI he presented at the 2019 IACP Conference to DCACP. Mr. Hoffman will e
 xplain how Collaborative professionals can be most effective when we under
 stand how to manage the emotional dimensions of the conflicts we handle. 
  Psychologists have long understood that individuals have sub-personalitie
 s\, each seeking to guide our thinking and behavior – for example\, angr
 y parts that respond when provoked\, managerial parts that help us resolve
  conflicts\, and wounded\, exiled parts that carry our fears and pain.  W
 ith a particular focus on Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory\, this work
 shop will help professionals (a) understand the various ‘parts’ that s
 how up in us when we are involved in conflict\, (b) manage this internal n
 egotiation in ourselves so that we can be more effective in our cases\, an

 \n \n\nDavid Hoffman is a Collaborative Practice attorney\, mediator\, ar
 bitrator\, and founder of Boston Law Collaborative\, LLC.  He is also  t
 he John H. Watson\, Jr. Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School\, where he t
 eaches courses on mediation\, diversity\, Collaborative Law and legal ethi
 cs.  He is past chair of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution\, and a fo
 unding member of the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council.  He has pub
 lished three books on dispute resolution\, including “Bringing Peace int
 o the Room” (with co-editor Daniel Bowling).  Further information about
