Biography
Throughout the past 20 years, I have worked with children, adolescents, couples and families in various stages of the divorce process. It has been my experience that although divorce can be very painful, it is possible to work through the process responsibly and respectfully while keeping the best interests of the entire family in mind. For couples going through a divorce, support from knowledgeable and caring professionals can make a tremendous difference. I believe my role is to educate you, my client. I will provide you with answers to your questions in order to help you understand and navigate the negative, and sometimes overwhelming, emotions that can accompany divorce. In addition, I will help you acquire the communication skills necessary to work with your spouse, thus allowing you to productively problem solve during and after the divorce. When children are involved, I often find that parents want to protect them from the conflict and chaos that sometimes occurs during the divorce process. My goal is to help parents work through differences in parenting styles, and guide them in developing a parenting plan that addresses the individual needs of their children in a creative and loving way. Doing so decreases the likelihood of conflict and creates a more positive co-parenting relationship. While divorce can be very painful, and it undoubtedly affects the entire family, I believe that with the right approach, it can be an opportunity for growth and positive transformation.
